Our approach to learning.

Development.

There are seven areas of learning and development with the EYFS. All areas of learning and development are important and inter-connected. There are three prime areas which are crucial for igniting curiosity and enthusiasm for learning in children. These three areas are:

  • Communication and language

  • Physical development

  • Personal, social and emotional development

These prime areas are also fundamental in supporting children to form relationships and thrive as well as building their capacity to learn.

Education.

In addition to the three prime areas we will also be supporting the children’s development in four specific areas. These areas are:

  • Literacy

  • Mathematics

  • Understanding the world

  • Expressive arts and design

Supporting children in these areas allows the prime areas to be applied and strengthened. We provide activities and experiences for children incorporating all seven areas of learning.

Parents as Partners.

At little Miss Muffet’s we believe that parents and staff need to work together in a close partnership for children to receive high quality care and early learning that meets their individual needs. We welcome parents as partners and support a two way sharing of information that ensures the consistency and continuity of care through mutual trust and understanding.

We know that you will want to understand where your child is on their learning journey, so to support you further, planned for Autumn 2016 is a secure parent login to our website which will allow you to observe your child’s progress on their learning journey.

Communication and language.

Children will be given opportunities to experience a rich language environment, to develop their confidence and skills in expressing themselves and to speak and listen in a range of situations.

Physical development.

All children will be given opportunities to be active and interactive and to develop their coordination, control and movement. Children will also be helped to understand the importance of physical activity and making healthy choices in relation to food.

Personal, social and emotional development.

Your child will be helped to develop a positive sense of themselves and others and to form positive relationships and develop respect for others. They will be encouraged to develop their social skills and learn how to manage their own feelings. They will be encouraged to understand appropriate behaviour in groups and have confidence in their own abilities.
